I refrained from crying at the last internment i attended – the pool of tears on my mountain of mourning, was a validation of rain from a cloud of bereavement.
I learnt a few things from the funeral:
- Funerals are not eternal neither is life.
- Life is a voyage – intercepted only by eternity.
- Crying is not a function of weakness – it’s a show of humanity.
- The weak do not cry cause it takes strength to let down tears.
- You don’t learn how to cry – you are born with data of emotions.
- Know what is worth your tears, then cry shamelessly.
- Cry like all your life depends on the occurrence.
- When you cry, do not lose your strength – Athena is not a memorial to anything.
- Everything that makes us cry happen in life.
- You don’t prepare to cry – the days of misery will find everyone.
- Funerals are not the only place where we cry.
- There is a place where we would all cry – this is not an Anathema.
- Summit and low places - mud shelters and glass houses. There is a package of tears for everyone, everywhere.
- Crying is not a respecter of person, place or status.
- Do not become inconsolable.
- You don’t cry over everything – you lose the valuation of tears and become a crybaby.
- Be thankful. Your misery is rainbow to some - those who reside on the mount of tragedy.
